Polaroid-style nighttime aerial view of campus
One of the country's best liberal arts colleges is also one of its most beautiful, day or night. On the coast of Connecticut, midway between Boston and New York City, Conn offers easy access to entertainment, nature, historical sites and career opportunities.
Students passing the library and cherry blossoms
We enjoy all four seasons, but spring may just be our favorite. Flowers bloom, students soak up the sun, our four coffee shops put ice in their beverages ... even our library seems to reflect the season of new beginnings!
Student back-to-back posing with Camel mascot
Our Camel mascot is cool. And may secretly fight crime. We don't know for sure.
Student DJ in the college radio station
Do you have a voice for radio? We have our own station, WCNI, that broadcasts on campus and in the local community! What music would you play on your own radio show?
Students posing by Fanning to show off costumes
Camels are stylish, with student clubs focusing on fashion and a costume design studio on campus to support our performing arts efforts ...
Girl in a top hat during a theater performance
... such as "Cabaret," which was one of the first musical theater works performed in our newly renovated performing arts center. Even if you're not Broadway-bound, there are lots of ways to go on stage or behind the curtain at Conn.
Two people inspecting mushrooms
Our arboretum campus offers 750 acres of nature in which to relax or research. Did you know Camels conduct research at a level most students don't reach until graduate school? This particular project looks like fun ... gi.
Students placing a reef ball in the Thames
We're the only NESCAC school with a waterfront, which we use for amusement, athletics, research and even rescues: These reef balls were installed by a Conn professor and students to turn our riverfront into a sustainable aquatic habitat/living lab that can help save precious ecosystems.
Two figures working in the lab
Stars, they're just like us. If we're astronomical objects comprising luminous spheroids of plasma held together by gravity. See stars and more from our campus observatories, used by students in astrophysics, astronomy, physics, geoscience and aliens. (One of those subjects is not real.)
Student working in the greenhouse
You can also see stars while you're in our greenhouse! The striking glass building is a showstopper of a classroom for botany, biology, environmental studies, environmental engineering, our Food Pathway and other plant-based studies. When we go green, we really go green.
Student running track
Camels can haul hump! Nothing holds back our student-athletes, whose coaches understand rigorous education and championship performances can go hand-in-hand. (Seen above, the double All-American, All-Academic, NCAA Division III star and NESCAC Most Outstanding Performer Malissa Lindsey.)
Sailboats out on the Thames
Did we mention we're the only NESCAC college with a waterfront? Sometimes we forget to say that ...
Team celebrating a championship win
The Camel men's soccer team brought home the NCAA Division III championship trophy in 2022! Conn students have their choice of 28 varsity teams, plus numerous club and intramural sports. They also work out at our waterfront fitness center and do a lot of yoga. Namaste.
Polaroid of students discussing in autumn Arboretum
Autumn is glorious at Conn. Maybe more so than spring. The air is crisp, like the apples you can pick at nearby orchards. Cozy sweaters, colorful leaves, cider donuts, even pumpkin spice if you're into that sort of thing. Yeah, fall's definitely our favorite.
Three students smiling
The lifelong friendships you'll make at Conn can start as early as our Welcome Weekend orientation. We find ways for you to quickly connect with your classmates, and there are lots of student clubs to grow your herd and your leadership skills.
Two students building a snowman together outside in the winter
Winter can be white but, because we're on the coast, the snowfall isn't ridiculous. It's just enough to be beautiful and fun! Some of our residence houses have fireplaces, and the scent of hot cocoa is everywhere. Yep, winter is our favorite season.
Students in discussion on round couches
Success in any field relies increasingly on understanding the world around you. Conn has a designated space in which you'll gain an appreciation of languages, cultures and communities in the U.S. and abroad, plus diverse global perspectives on the relevant issues of our times.
Boats in the New London marina
Our hometown of New London is a historic seaport with a funky downtown of shops, restaurants, galleries, performance venues and an expansive, busy pier on the Thames River, where music, art and maritime festivals take place.
Sunset aerial view of the campus
No matter how you look at it, our campus is breathtaking. And on mornings like this, your breath is one of the few things you can hear. #Calm #Peaceful #Water #DidWeMentionWater?
Students gathered around the camel mascot in the evening
We call it a "Camel Moment": When you realize you are destined for Conn. It can be profound, or it can sneak up on you. But it's the beginning of four wonderful years of exploration, growth, reflection, understanding and, yes, fun.
